Hamilton Street Pedestrian Bridge

Bridge-completed-June-2023.jpg

The project

The Hamilton Street pedestrian bridge connecting the east and west banks of the Wimmera River was completed in June 2023 and opened for public use on Friday 16th June. The bridge joins the walking track connecting the Waterlink Estate on the eastern side of the river and Hamilton street on the western side.  An additional connecting ramp is still to be constructed along Menadue street.

The new pedestrian bridge will support safer connections for pedestrians and bicycle riders to the central activity district, schools precinct and Wimmera Base Hospital on the north-west side of the river.

After consultation with residents immediately adjacent to the site, the colour chosen for the bridge is Woodland Grey (Colourbond colour) which is a dark palette that complements the existing Anzac bridge and blend with the natural environment.
