Horsham Rural City Council’s Draft Municipal Open Space Strategy is available for comment.

Councillors at Monday’s June Ordinary Meeting resolved to place the strategy on public exhibition for four weeks.

The Open Space Strategy will help Council determine long-term priorities for the planning, provision and development of open spaces across the municipality.

Public open spaces are those that are used for both formal and informal recreation. These spaces include parks, playgrounds, bushland, cycling or walking paths, rivers and lakes, sporting facilities and civic spaces.

Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bhalla said the Draft Strategy was formulated based on public consultation during March which included workshops and online engagement.

“The community has played a key role in the development of the Draft Strategy and now we are asking for people to make a final assessment before it is adopted next month,” Mr Bhalla said.

“I encourage anyone with an interest in the future of Horsham to take the time to have a look and send us your feedback,” Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bhalla said.

Feedback can be provided via the HRCC website or in writing until Monday 24 July. Copies of the Draft Strategy are available at the Civic Centre and online.
