A planning permit has been lodged by Horsham Community House for its proposal to relocate to enhanced facilities in the north of the city.

Since 1984 the not-for-profit organisation has provided Wimmera people with educational and social opportunities.

However the house’s current facility in Pearl St, Horsham West, is unsuitable because of its small rooms and limited space. Most significantly there are accessibility problems involving the toilets and main entrance.

Council, in coordination with the support of Department of Health and Human Services has supported a shift to the vacant former Maternal Child Health and Kindergarten facility, 15 Robin St, Horsham North.

It is proposed that the lease be for three years.

Horsham Community House are currently undertaking community consultation with nearby residents and Community House participants.

For people who are interested in further information there will be a drop in session at the Robin St facility on Wednesday June 13 between 3pm and 5.30pm.

People who attend can talk to members of the Horsham Community House and see the plans for the new facility.

If you are unable to attend the drop in session or would like information about the proposal, please call the Community House Coordinator Kathy Boeham on 5382 5352.
