Wimmera residents are being urged to cast their votes in the State Government’s Pick My Project grant program which will deliver at least $1 million in community funding.

Earlier this year, people were invited to submit ideas to make their communities better places to live.

Applications have now closed and more than 2,220 project ideas are now available for Victorians to vote on.

The Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership area will receive at least $1million to fund projects that receive the most votes in the municipalities of Horsham, Northern Grampians, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.

There are 37 projects shortlisted from within the Horsham Rural City Council. The full list of local projects is available on HRCC’s website.

HRCC Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bhalla said it was vital Wimmera residents made their votes count.

“In our Horsham municipality, there are many worthwhile projects to vote on. All up our local government area is asking for grant funds of over $3.7million,” Mr Bhalla said.

“These projects all aim to make our community an even better place to live.

To make sure that Horsham and the wider region attracts a fair share of available funding, get on-line and vote for your favourite project,” he said.

Every person aged 16 and over will have three votes and the ballot closes Monday 17 September at 5pm. The winning projects will be announced later next month.

Mr Bhalla said people needed to register to vote, and could do this at www.pickmyproject.vic.gov.au.

He said people without access to internet could call the Pick My Project Helpline on 1800 797 818.
