A new Horsham Rural City Council Youth Strategy will prioritise key issues affecting young people and seek new ways to engage the region’s youth.

The first stage of the project will involve consultation with Horsham people aged 10 to 25, followed by the public exhibition of a draft proposal and finally the adoption of the final Strategy in July 2018.

Cr Josh Koenig said the Youth Strategy would set the strategic direction and guide future service delivery for the municipality.

"Finding ways to empower young people to make decisions in the community will help ensure the best outcomes for Horsham’s youth," Cr Koenig said.

The Strategy will also advise Council on what type of services for young people are required into the future".

"I am excited about the opportunities that our new strategy presents to address complex issues that young people face," he said.
