Rates Strategy Advisory Committee

Council has resolved to have a detailed and independent review undertaken of how rates are calculated and everyone is welcome to share their opinion.

As part of the process, Council sought expressions of interest from people to join a new Rates Strategy Advisory Committee.

The nine-person Committee, working alongside an independent consultant, will play a key role in shaping the way rates are calculated.

The review process will start in September and will be delivered in time for the adoption of the 2019-20 Rates Strategy.

A diverse Committee was sought that provides both gender equity and ages representative of the general adult population.

The committee will, as far as practical, be composed of representatives proportionate to the share of rates paid by each sector.
