Boomerang bags bounding along

Boomerang bag working bees at the Civic Centre in Horsham have been a great success, resulting in reusable shopping bags being placed in various shops throughout the CBD.
Boomerang bags are now available at Horsham Disposals in Roberts Avenue, Redrock Books in Firebrace Street and Craft for a Cause in McLachlan Street. These reusable shopping bags are available for people to use when they leave their own bags at home.
Horsham Tidy Towns chair and boomerang bag initiator Gillian Vanderwaal said that it would be great to see people using reusable bags when doing their Christmas shopping.
“Community members have donated fabric and their time to this important project. It is because of their generosity that we are able to offer these bags to our community at no cost. With major supermarkets phasing out single use plastic bags, it is timely that Horsham has an alternative that will last for years to come,” she said.
Horsham Urban Landcare committee member and co-initiator Jess Kuhne encouraged people to get involved.
“We are always on the lookout for more volunteers to help at our working bees or make bags at home,” she said.
The concept of boomerang bags started in Queensland. The program has now been implemented in over 450 towns around the world.
