We encourage applications from all young people, regardless of gender, race, disability or cultural background.

What does a Youth Council actually do?

Youth Councils are the voice of young people in the community, and are there to represent your friends and peers. You will also help plan cool events and activities for young people in Horsham, and ensure that young people are represented in Council plans

How often does Youth Council meet?

The youth Council is required to meet 6 times per year. The day of the meeting will be decided by the Youth Council once they are inducted into office. There will be additional meetings for personal development, training, information sessions and special events

What will I learn on the Youth Council?

You will learn how Councils make decisions for it’s residents, how to work as a team, improve your public speaking skills as well as learning about event planning. Being a part of Youth Council also looks amazing on your resume and to potential employers!

Do I need any special skills?

Not at all! You will receive guidance and mentoring from the Horsham Council Youth team, as well as from other Council staff and even members of Senior Council. You will learn about running meetings, taking minutes, public speaking and event planning. We are looking for motivated people and those keen to make a difference!
