Horsham Rural City Council will host a Coronavirus information webinar with esteemed health physician and former Wimmera General Practitioner Dr Rob Grenfell this Thursday night.

Dr Grenfell joined the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in June 2016 as Director of the Health and Biosecurity Business Unit.

He was raised in Longerenong, and spent nearly 13 years working as a general practitioner in Natimuk.

Mayor Mark Radford will present the webinar from 5.30pm.

“This is an opportunity for our community to hear from a genuine expert when it comes to COVID-19,” Cr Radford said.

“Many topics will be covered including the history of the virus, how it is spread and the development of a vaccine.”

The live presentation will be available via Zoom video conferencing. Attendees do not need to register and a recording will be made available from Friday.

Cr Radford said people could submit questions for Dr Grenfell before Thursday night via email or the HRCC Facebook page.

“We will also see if we can answer some questions as they come in during the webinar,” he said.

Dr Grenfell was previously the National Medical Director of Bupa Australia and New Zealand. He has also held roles as the National Director of Cardiovascular Health at the Heart Foundation and as the Strategic Health Advisor to Parks Victoria and previously a Senior Medical Advisor at the Department of Health Victoria.
