Horsham Rural City Council has completed works to build a new public toilet block next to the city’s skate park.

Construction of the toilets and connecting pathways near the Natimuk Road corner of Park Drive is now complete and the old toilet block located near the netball courts will soon be demolished.

The old facility was unsuitable because of its out dated design, dark corners and blind spots.

The new location provides a better connection with the skate park, provides better easier to people walking and cycling along Natimuk Rd and is more visible for motorists. Car parking facilities provide easy access to the amenity block.

HRCC project manager Madelein Van Heerden said the new amenities had been designed with access and community safety in mind.

"Having the cubicles opening up onto the skate park increases visibility around the amenity block and makes it easier for parents to supervise young children in the area.

"We are working with our community to increase usage of the skate park and the construction of a new amenity block, wrapped in fabulous artwork is designed to provide a welcoming colourful statement at the Park.

“This is a great community asset: centrally located, easy to access and very convenient for users of the skate park, our broader community and visitors to our city,” Ms Van Heerden said.
