Not the time for COVID complacency

Mayor Robyn Gulline is urging residents to not to drop their guard when it comes to COVID rules.

With the increased movement of people in regional Victoria and an outbreak in Ballarat this week, the risk of COVID transmission in the Horsham area has heightened.

“It is critical that we all continue our COVIDSafe behaviours – most importantly, to get tested immediately if you have any symptoms at all,” Cr Gulline said

“We have all worked hard to follow the rules over the past 18 months and we should continue to work together to make sure our community stays safe.

“If you are eligible, I encourage you to please get vaccinated. Vaccination is our only way out of ongoing lockdowns.”

Cr Gulline said it was crucial that businesses continued to follow rules such as having all customers check in to their premises and wear a mask.

Business compliance officers from the Victorian Government are currently in regional centres undertaking inspections.

“They have been in Horsham and we don’t know when they will be back,” Cr Gulline said.

“As we have now come out of lockdown let’s continue to support each other and help businesses to ensure they comply with the rules,” she said.

Every Victorian business must have a COVIDSafe Plan to help protect workers and customers from COVID-19.

Thanks to the Victorian State Government, via the Business Concierge and Hospitality Support Program, businesses now have Council representatives that can help guide them through the ever changing COVID requirements.

“We are pleased to have three dedicated COVID Support Officers available full-time to assist businesses and community groups to ‘get it right’ and keep our community safe,” Cr Gulline said

“The role is a great support to strengthen the COVIDSafe practices already in place and reinforce the terrific work our community is doing.

“Ultimately, the position will act as a conduit between State Government, Council and those who operate under COVID restrictions,” she said.
