Horsham Regional Livestock Exchange has reopened its saleyards to the public.

The exchange had been restricted to buyers and agents due to COVID protocols since restrictions were enforced 12 months ago.

Now the general public can attend on market days, provided they sign in on arrival.

“Council is pleased to open the livestock exchange to the public,” Horsham Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bhalla said.

“For many farmers, market days provide one of the few chances to socialise. They can have a coffee and catch up with their friends and agents, so it’s good to be able to return to relative normality.

“However it is important that everyone follows the rules that are in place,” he said.

Everyone should maintain 1.5m distance from each other and avoid shaking hands.

QR codes will be offered for people to sign in on their mobile devices. Paper copy sign-in forms will also be available.
