The Dooen Landfill has re-opened following a fire at the site on Monday.

The fire was first detected about 3am and is now extinguished.

The facility was closed to the public on Tuesday, however kerbside waste collections continued uninterrupted.

Horsham Rural City Council worked with the Environment Protection Authority to re-open the landfill on Wednesday.

The incident response was supported by local CFA volunteers, Fire Rescue Victoria personnel and Council staff. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Council is appreciative of the response of all personnel to promptly extinguish the fire.
