During the first COVID-19 Stage 3 restrictions this year, the team working from the Kalkee Road Children’s Hub did an incredible amount of work to ensure important community services continued safely.

This meant many services moving to online platforms and appointment regimes changing significantly.

This time around with Stage 3 restrictions, services are now well-adapted to continue operating effectively.

Maternal Child Health Services are now offering phone consultation and telehealth sessions in the first instance, ensuring families can access appointments with health professionals conveniently and safely.

Newborns and small babies are seen for a short 15-minute consultation to be weighed, measured and checked, with young babies and vulnerable children being prioritised.

The new parent’s group is again operating via video conferencing, connecting first-time parents with a Maternal Child Health nurse to learn key skills about caring for a newborn.

Immunisations remain on a booking basis only, with families needing to book into a time slot following the links on the web page or on the Horsham MCH Facebook page.

Supported playgroup has resumed with online sessions being offered to members via Facebook. The playgroup team is again coordinating the delivery of play and craft packs to participating families.

The HRCC Youth Council continue to meet virtually on a regular basis, with online competitions and events being held over the weekends. This group is also holding a competition to design the logo for the new youth facility ‘The Station’.

To connect with any of these services, visit the Our Services section of the HRCC website.
