Horsham Rural City Council Mayor Cr Robyn Gulline is using National Volunteer Week, May 17 to 23, to reflect on the important role volunteers have played in the region over the past year.

“Volunteering is known to have health and wellbeing benefits. It helps people feel part of the community, can relieve stress, and gives people purpose,” Cr Gulline said.

“In our municipality volunteers fill many important roles including as committee members of our regional halls, ushers at the Horsham Town Hall and delivery of Meals on Wheels to the elderly.

“We would like to invite our volunteers to join us for morning tea to say thank you, and to acknowledge their contributions over the past two years.”

The morning tea will take place on Monday 17 May, 10.30am to 11.30am in the Heritage Hall at the Horsham Town Hall.

The morning tea will also be a chance for future volunteers to learn more about volunteering with Horsham Rural City Council.

“We encourage attendees to bring a friend who may be interested in becoming a volunteer,” Cr Gulline said.

“Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, share interests and support the delivery of great programs for our community.”

All people wishing to attend the morning tea will need to RSVP to the Horsham Town Hall Box office on 03 5382 9555 by Thursday 13 May.
