Horsham Rural City Aboriginal Community Round Table
Position: Community Representatives (2 positions)
Nominations are invited from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community members to participate on the Aboriginal Community Roundtable. There are currently two community representative vacancies on this committee.
The Round Table is a collaborative space where everyone has an equal voice. If appointed, you will be sitting alongside:
- Other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community representatives and Elders.
- Horsham Rural City Council Councillors and executive staff.
- Representatives from local Indigenous health, education, and community service organisations.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking community representatives who:
- Live, work, or study on the Traditional Lands of the Wotjobaluk Peoples, or have a strong, active connection to the local First Nations community.
- Have an understanding of the local issues affecting community, and how council or local services can better support them.
- Care about social justice and are willing to talk openly about reconciliation.
- Have strong ties to the local community and are comfortable sharing a broad range of community views.
- Are willing to share your voice, ideas, and advice to help guide the Council's decisions.
- Ability to attend quarterly meetings online/in-person is essential to being a member of the committee.
