FoodTrader

FoodTrader is the Department of Health's online database used to manage state wide notifications and allows you to easily lodge your Statement of Trade (SOT) with other Councils without having to complete a Council registration (application, inspection, registration fees.) for each Council area you trade in. An SOT is a request to the hosting Council that you wish to trade in their local Council area.

FoodTrader is for you if you are wanting your food business or community group to trade outside of your registered premises address in a temporary location (example: in a food vehicle, a marquee, stall, or another structure) such as at markets and special events.

For example, if your business is already registered with Horsham Council, and you wish to trade at the Natimuk Market, the Geelong National Celtic Folk Festival, or the Christmas Market at the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne, you will need to submit an application on FoodTrader.

To use FoodTrader, you will also need to register your business directly with Council first. You can do so by visiting our food business registration page.

Once you have registered with both Council and with FoodTrader, you will have the ability to submit SOTs. Ensure that you submit your SOTs at least 48 business hours prior to your event.
