Review of the Horsham North Urban Design Framework and the Rail Corridor Masterplan
Council has previously prepared in consultation with the community the Horsham North Urban Design Framework (2013) and the Rail Corridor Masterplan (2016). These strategies identified a number of issues and opportunities in the Horsham North study area in addressing public realm and accessibility. This work has since been reviewed, further explored and compiled through the preparation of the Horsham North Issues and Opportunities Paper. The aim is to reinterpret the previous directions and actions into the following new themes; Future Land Use + Planning, Access + Connections, and Public Spaces.
Preparation of Horsham North (Draft) Issues and Opportunities Paper
The Horsham North Issues and Opportunities Paper determines what actions have been implemented since the 2013 Urban Design Framework, what work remains and new issues that have emerged.
Community Feedback and Workshop
April - May 2022
The issues and opportunities were presented to the community in April 2022 and workshopped at two public forum events. The community's feedback is critical in refining the issues and ensuring all matters have been identified. This work will then inform the development of a Local Area Plan for Horsham North. This document will provide an implementation plan for actions identified under each theme. These themes have since been refined to the following; Land Use + Future Character, Access + Connections, and Public + Open Spaces.
Preparation of the Horsham North Local Area Plan is underway
May - September 2022
The Draft Horsham North Local Area Plan has been prepared and is currently subject to a cross department internal review process. It is scheduled to go to a Council Meeting in September. A decision from Council will be sought to publicly release the Draft Local Area Plan for community feedback.
