Horsham Rural City Council is seeking two community representatives to join a Community Reference Group (CRG) to help steer the future of the Haven Recreation Reserve.

Council is examining what changes should occur in the longer term at the reserve in order to meet the changing levels of use.

The CRG, made up of various local stakeholders, will work with Council to create a shared vision for the reserve.

“We are looking for community representatives who live in Haven and represent diverse community interests and backgrounds,” Mayor Robyn Gulline said.

“The community representatives must be willing and able to constructively participate in discussions to reach outcomes that benefit the broader community.

“We especially would like to hear from you if you are new to Haven or are between the ages of 15 and 49,” she said.

Expressions of Interest close 5pm on Friday 23 April 2021.

The first of up to seven, two-hour workshops will held by the end of April and the project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2021.

“Attendance at the fortnightly meetings is essential to being a member of the CRG,” Cr Gulline said.

A nominated representative will join the CRG from the following groups:

  • Haven Community Enterprise Inc.
  • Horsham West and Haven Primary School – Haven Campus
  • Haven Tennis Club
  • Horsham Dog Obedience Club
  • Haven Memorial Hall internal user groups

Members or employees of one of the above groups cannot participate as a community representative in the CRG.

Cr Gulline said Council was aware of several other Haven Recreation Reserve user groups not listed.

“Over the next few months we will be making contact with these groups to see how we can include their ideas,” she said.
