Testing of water samples from Green Lake has shown that it is again safe for recreation activities.
HRCC Infrastructure Director John Martin said that test results received this week have shown the level of blue-green algae has fallen below the level where it is of concern to recreation uses.
“This allows Council to open both lakes to recreational use and the warning signs have been removed,” Mr Martin said.
“With the long weekend coming up, this is good news for lake users and visitors to the area.
“Lake users are encouraged to be on the lookout for any areas of iridescent algae floating on the surface, and avoid these areas.”
The lake had been closed since early last month when very high blue-green algae levels were detected.
Dock Lake remains closed due to the presence of blue-green algae.
