Horsham company Landscape It has been awarded a contract to install lighting and landscaping as part of the City to River enhancements near Sawyer Park.

The area to be landscaped includes the riverfront precinct between Horsham Caravan Park and Memorial Drive.

The work under the contract includes:

  • Supply of plants and hard landscaping materials
  • Supply and installation of semi-advanced trees (1.5m tall)
  • Garden bed preparation and planting
  • Supply and installation of irrigation
  • Supply and installation of lighting
  • Supply and installation of seating, bollards, bin surrounds etc.
  • Supply and installation of turf
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the finished work for 13 weeks.

Mayor Robyn Gulline said the landscaping and lighting delivered in this project would be the final piece in the transformative project for the Wimmera River in Horsham.

“It will deliver a first class precinct for Horsham residents and tourists to use the riverfront for recreation and enjoyment,” Cr Gulline said.

“The project cost is contained within the overall City to River project budget, of which the state and federal governments have contributed significant funding,” she said.

The landscaping plan was developed with feedback from Council’s parks and gardens team to ensure that suitable plants were used. Permeable paving will be used where possible so that water can seep through the paving to increase soil moisture.

Wimmera Catchment Management Authority has approved flood modelling to ensure that works do not adversely impact on the river flow.
