Customers are being encouraged to continue doing business with Horsham Rural City Council (HRCC) despite the closure of customer services desks due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

HRCC on Monday closed facilities including Horsham Town Hall, Horsham Aquatic Centre, the Mibus Centre Library and Horsham Regional Art Gallery.

The Civic Centre’s reception area will close from 5pm Wednesday.

Customers can access services by:

  • Submitting a request online
  • Calling 5382 9777 from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5pm
  • Sending an email to council@hrcc.vic.gov.au

Chief Executive Officer Sunil Bhalla said Council was continuing to follow government advice by minimising large public gatherings, dispensing with non-essential meetings and events, and encouraging social distancing.

“We know closing our customer service centres will have an impact on the community’s ability to make payments in person and to seek advice from officers,” Mr Bhalla said.

“However it’s important to know Council will continue to operate. Officers will still be available by phone and email, and payments can be made by phone, BPAY and through other methods detailed on payment notices.

“If you are unable to make payment through one of these methods, please call us to discuss your options.

“We also have a Financial Hardship Policy, which is available on our website, and which outlines the process to seek deferment or waiver of rates and charges,” he said.

All current facility closures will be in place until April 13, after which they will be reviewed.
