Horsham Rural City Council has endorsed the release of a Discussion Paper which will help develop a vision for future housing growth across Horsham and Natimuk.

The Horsham and Natimuk Housing Diversity and Affordability Strategy will be a comprehensive 15-year strategy to manage demand for housing, the need for a diverse range of housing types and issues of affordability.

It will also take into consideration cultural heritage and other values and our established neighbourhood character.

The work undertaken to date presents population and housing projections, and assessment of existing residential land supply.

HRCC is now inviting public feedback on the Discussion Paper until Sunday, 16 June.

During this time, residents can access information on the Council’s website, participate in an online webinar, attend community drop-in sessions in Horsham, Natimuk, and Haven and meet with Council officers to ask questions.

Mayor Robyn Gulline said the housing strategy will provide a robust framework for managing growth and addressing the region’s housing needs.

“By working together, we can ensure that our region remains a great place to live, now and in the future,” she said.

“Community engagement is a crucial part of this process, and the Council is committed to hearing from residents and stakeholders about their views on finding and delivering housing in Horsham,” Cr Gulline said.

For more information about the Horsham and Natimuk Housing Diversity and Affordability Strategy project and how to provide feedback, please visit the Council’s website.

  • Information readily available on the Council’s website
  • An online webinar open to all, which will also be recorded and uploaded onto the Council’s website
  • Key interested party interviews
