Horsham Rural City Council is warning people of the danger of jumping off the pedestrian bridge in Horsham.

John Martin, Technical Services Director said that Council is receiving reports of young people jumping from the middle of the Anzac Centenary Bridge into the Wimmera River.

“Water levels under the bridge are shallow, with depths varying from 1.2 to 1.5 metres.  It is extremely unsafe to jump into shallow water, and whilst it might seem like a bit of fun at the time, the potential exists for someone to be seriously hurt.  Please be vigilant in ensuring your children, grandchildren, relatives and friends do not jump off the bridge into the Wimmera River.  It is very dangerous and we don’t want people to get hurt,” he said.
