Council advocates strongly on projects and issues the community has identified as priorities.
These projects are shared with State and Federal political representatives. Council also speaks regularly about these opportunities with senior bureaucrats from relevant government departments.
The projects are derived from the Council Plan and are focused on improving the liveability and sustainability of Horsham and the wider municipality.
The project delivers visual concepts for work set to enhance and link the River and Central Activity District. Existing and new information will be used to take ideas to action

Council is making plans for a second river crossing for vehicles
A key role of Horsham Rural City Council is to advocate to government and private sector investors for support for priority projects. This advocacy work helps Council achieve its vision for a vibrant, inclusive community. Large, transformational projects cannot be solely funded through Council’s revenue streams and require significant investment, particularly by State and Federal Governments
Council is changing waste and recycling services, to introduce dedicated glass recycling and green waste collection
The Stage 2 project will fully activate ‘The Station’ providing a large indoor/outdoor space that is safe, and has improved accessibility.
Council is currently developing its Central Activity District Revitalisation Plan that will identify changes to be made in the centre of Horsham
Horsham Rural City Council has conducted a feasibility study to inform decisions for upgrades to existing or the development of new sporting infrastructure in Horsham.
Council is assisting the Natimuk community to implement the Natimuk Economic and Social Plan that was developed in 2022 for the town and surrounding region.
