Rural Access Grants open to Wimmera community groups

Wimmera community groups are invited to apply for funding to help deliver projects that meet the needs of people with a disability through the Rural Access Grants program.

The Rural Access Quick Win Grants are a one-off contribution open to communities in the municipalities of Horsham, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.

Horsham Rural City Council Director Community Services, Kevin O’Brien said the main aim of the grant was to increase the inclusion of people with disability and foster stronger connections. 

“Council is proud to launch this innovative grant. As the transition into NDIS continues, it is essential that our community groups continue to build their capacity and are inclusive and accessible to all our community,” Mr O’Brien said. 

“We encourage Wimmera community groups to apply for funding for projects such as start-up seed funding for new programs, staff training, short term projects and small scale equipment required to improve inclusion” Mr O”Brien said. 

Rural Access is a partnership initiative between the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and Local Government.

Applications open 7 May 2018 and close 15 June 2018. It is preferred projects are ready to go and can be completed by the end of the year.

Interested parties should submit application forms online and must identify how the project will improve the lives of people with disability.
